Art Is A Lie That Tells the Truth

And the truth is *inherently* political. This is because one of the truths about human society is the power relationships in society. Thus, the oft-proclaimed incompatibility between art and politics is false. Indeed, that proclamation is, itself, an expression of power, the expression of the powerful who would trivialize art   neuter it, and have it only talk about the birds and the bees, the flowers and the trees, and the agony and ecstasy of love. Yes, art can talk about all of that. But to tell the full truth about human relationships one must tell the truth about power.

So, among other things, art is a lie that tells the truth about power.
